Giles Dennis Gentry Sr.

Goldsboro -- Giles Dennis Gentry Sr., 89, of Goldsboro and formerly of Fayetteville , died Thursday, May 3 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center .

A funeral service was held Saturday, May 5 at 5 p.m. from the chapel of  Seymour Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Gentry, Gentry’s son, and the Rev. Elton Bryan officiated. Burial with full military honors was held Sunday, May 6 at 3 p.m. in Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville .

Memorials may be made to Church Alive Ministries Building Fund, 471 Buck Swamp Road , Goldsboro , NC 27530 .

The family received friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Michelle Gentry, 219 Creek Ridge Drive , Goldsboro and at the home of Terri and Clayton Parker, 7655 Lucinda Lane , Linden .

Charles Henry Bennerman

WALLACE—Charles Henry Bennerman, 72, died Thursday, May 3, at Duke University Hospital in Durham .

A funeral service was held from the Island Creek AME Church in Rose Hill on Monday, May 7 at 1 p.m.  Burial will follow at Duplin Memorial Gardens in Wallace.

The family received friends on Saturday, May 6 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home in Rose Hill.

Richard Delmar Pitts

Dudley — Richard Delmar “Dick” Pitts, 70, of 301 Brandy Drive , died Sunday, May 6 at Wayne Memorial Hospital at Goldsboro .

A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 9 at 7 p.m. from the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro with the with Rev. Bill Rose officiating.

The family received friends following the memorial service at Seymour Funeral Home at Goldsboro .

Naomi Erica Lagunas

GOLDSBORO — Ronda Blaize Long and Josh Lagunas announce the birth and death of their infant daughter, Naomi Erica Salazar Lagunas, on Sunday, May 6 at Wayne Memorial Hospital .

A graveside service was held Thursday, May 10 at 2 p.m. at the Grady Family Cemetery with the Rev. Ashley Summerlin officiating.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Ronda and Alan Hughes of Mount Olive ; her paternal grandparents, Consuelo and Jose Lagunas; and her maternal great-grandparents, Georgia Teachey of Seven Springs and Maxine Seymour of Seven Springs.

The family received friends at their home, 1009 Stanley Chapel Church Road , Mount Olive and also immediately following the graveside service.

Funeral arrangements are handled by Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

WARSAW — Carrie Belle Gause, 77, of Warsaw , died Saturday, May 5 at her home.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 11 at 2 p.m. from St. Luke United Holy Church, Rose Hill. The Rev. Anthony Flow will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Funeral Home Cemetery at Magnolia.

The family received friends Thursday, May 10 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home at Rose Hill.

Edna Martin Scarborough

Edna Martin Scarborough, 88, died early Tuesday morning, May 8 at her home.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10 from the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive with Dr. Dennis Atwood officiating. Interment was in the Martin-Price Cemetery near Mount Olive .

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Scarborough was a graduate of Meredith College and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive where she was a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

Her survivors include two daughters, Beverly S. Blackwelder and husband, Richard of Mount Olive, and Shirley S. Lee of Buies Creek; three grandchildren, Meredith Kinder and husband, Mike of Raleigh, Garrett Blackwelder and wife, Corrie of Greenville, and Brooks Lee of Greensboro; and a sister, Ruth M. Parker of Mount Olive.

Friends and relatives were received at the home of Richard and Beverly Blackwelder, 110 Smith Chapel Road in Mount Olive .

WYTHEVILLE , VA —Kenneth Cedric Baker, 72, of Wytheville died Tuesday, April 3.

He was the son of the late Russell and Mildred Howell Baker who lived at Mount Olive , NC . He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Word of Life Ministries Church and Gideons International. Baker was the former owner of B&M True Value Hardware.

NEW YORK , NY —E.V. Cobb, 79, died Sunday, April 22 at Mount Sinai Hospital .

He was the son of the late Jessie James Cobb and Sula Faison and was born June 21, 1927 in Faison , NC .

He attended Burning Bush Church and school in Calypso, NC.

A funeral service was held Saturday, April 28 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of George H. Weldon Funeral Home with Elder Jay Gooding officiating.
