Mount Olive pitcher Carter Capps hurled a three-hit shutout Thursday night to lift the Trojans to a 6-0 win over Wingate University in the first round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regionals.
Capps gave up two singles in the first, then kept the visitors in check the rest of the way.
The Trojans face Columbus State University in the second round Friday at 3 p.m. Columbus State also won 6-0 in the tournament's first game Thursday afternoon against UNC-Pembroke.
