William Hinton
William Hinton, 57, of Dudley, died Saturday morning, December 6, at Southern Maryland Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, December 12 at 1 p.m. at Bible Faith Church with the Rev. Danny Wellington officiating. Burial followed in the Old Mill Cemetery.
Among his survivors is his wife, Ernestine Hinton of the home; a sister, Esther Drake of the home; and six children.
Amye James
Mrs. Amye James, age 90, a resident of Maple Hill, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Pender Memorial Hospital, Burgaw.
Funeral services were held from the Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church, Maple Hill, on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 1:30 pm. Burial followed at Lee Family Cemetery, Maple Hill.
Her survivors include one son: Edward James (Mamie), Aldie, VA; one daughter: Odessa Deans (Willie), Jacksonville; one brother: Christopher Pickett (Juanita), Chinquapin; one sister: Ester Ree Brown (Walter), Beulaville; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation was held on Sunday, December 14 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm, one hour prior to the funeral, Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church, Maple Hill.
Harold Lee Graham
Harold Lee Graham, 51, of LaGrange, died Wednesday, December 10 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.
The funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 14 at St. Rest Holiness Church in Seven Springs with Pastor Nathaniel Spell officiating. Burial followed in LaGrange Cemetery.
He is survived by his mother, Christine Kornegay Graham of LaGrange, and one son.
Javonnie Langston
Javonnie Donta “Mister” Langston, 33, of Goldsboro, died Tuesday, December 9.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 14 at 2:30 p.m. at Mount Zion Church Ministries with apostle Dennis Jacobs officiating. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Eugene Chestnut.
He is survived by his parents, Jennifer and Frank Campbell; sisters, Lakeisha Langston of Goldsboro, Shareen Lanier of Dudley, Keeda Darden of Goldsboro, Minisha Chestnut of Goldsboro, Latoya Whitfield of Goldsboro; brother, Darius Chestnut of Goldsboro; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Langston of Goldsboro; and paterneral grandfather, Lawrence Lee Chestnut of Georgia.
Lillie Sampson
Lillie Cox Sampson, 95, of Faison, died Monday, December 8 at her home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 13 at 1 p.m. at Piney Green Disciple Church of Christ with elder Fernando Geddie officiating. Burial followed in Cobbs Cemetery
She was the daughter of the late Ashley and Lula Best Cox.
She is survived by two children.

Mathis Hicks
Mathis Hicks, 60, of Faison, died Wednesday, December 10 at Glencare of Warsaw.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 16 at 2 p.m. at Macadonia Apostolic Holiness Church in Bowdens with Elder Swindell Best officiating. Burial followed at the Hicks Family Cemetery.
He was the son of the late James and Mary Glaspie Hicks.

Leona Simmons
Leona Simmons, 57, of Clinton, Md., formerly of Wayne County, died Thursday, December 11 in South River Health and Rehabilitation Center in Edgewater, Md.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 13 at noon at McIntyre Funeral Home Chapel in Goldsboro. Burial followed in the Elmwood Cemetery.
She had two sisters and one brother who preceded her in death.
Leona graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1970. She was employed at the Department of H.U.D. for 36 years.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Lee Simmons and daughter-in-law, Magdalere of Cibolo, Texas; one granddaughter, Kennethia; four grandsons, Alexander, Kenneth, Christen, and Brandon; four sisters, Pearlene Simmons, Nancy Bunn, Marie Braswell, all of Goldsboro, and Bessie Jordan and husband Bill of Clinton, Md.; and two brothers, Wilbert Simmons Jr. and wife Betty of Clayton, and Bill Simmons Jr. and wife Bernice of Dudley.
Easter W. Denning
Easter Westbrook Denning, 81, died Monday, December 15.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. with Rev. Bill Wilson and Rev. Walter Gaskins officiating at Pleasant Union Christian Church in Newton Grove. A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest cemetery today at 11 a.m.
Mrs. Denning was born April 15, 1927 to the late John W. and Sannie Smith Westbrook of Sampson County. She was preceded in death by siblings John W. Westbrook Jr., Bernice Westbrook, Marguerite W. Williford, Mable W. Smith and Bruce Westbrook.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Guy Denning; daughters Sannie D. Barefoot and husband Joey of Garner; Winnie Denning and fiance Rick Flowers of Newton Grove; special grandson Chad Barefoot and wife Karyn of Garner and special great-grandchildren Molly and Bradley Barefoot of Garner. She is also survived by brothers Amos Westbrook and Scott Westbrook of Newton Grove and J.B. Westbrook of Las Vegas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Union Christian Church, P.O. Box 1, Newton Grove 28366.

Rachel M. Thompson
Rachel Mozingo Thompson, 84, formerly of Seven Springs, died Tuesday, December 9.
Funeral services were held Thursday evening, December 11, at 7 at Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Bartlett officiating. Interment was Friday, December 12 at 11 a.m. at Pineview Cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson was born April 2, 1924, in Wayne County to the late George Frank Mozingo and Rosa Belle Quinn Mozingo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Olivia Dawn Thompson; son, Jimmy Ray Thompson; two sisters, Elizabeth Mozingo Hardy and Lucille Mozingo Ellis; and five brothers, Delmar, Edward, Pat, Charles and James Mozingo.
She operated Rachel’s Grill in Seven Springs and for many years was active in the Seven Springs Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Seven Springs Baptist Church.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by two children, LaRose Thompson Sessoms and husband, J.D. of Faison, James Milton Thompson Jr. and companion, Barbara Price of Mount Olive; brother, Elmer Lee Mozingo of Pikeville; two grandchildren, Phillip Gerald Mozingo and wife, Kari Jo of Albertson, Kathy Thornhill of Mount Olive; three great-grandchildren, Blair Mozingo of Greenville, Madison Mozingo of Albertson and Ryan Thornhill of Mount Olive; stepgrandchild, Matt Sessoms and wife, Belinda of Faison; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Ashley and Kyle Sutton.

Doris Faye King, 60, of Mount Olive, died Thursday, December 4 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 11 at 1 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Chapel, Mount Olive with the Rev. Ernie Haskins officiating. Burial followed in Carver Memorial Park.
She is survived by four children.
Benjamin Seaberry
Benjamin Seaberry, 67, of 217 Center St., Mount Olive, died Monday in Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at noon at Winn Chapel Church in Mount Olive with Pastor Pernell Faison officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park in Goldsboro.
He is survived by three sons, Anthony Darden of Charlotte, Willie L. Darden of Goldsboro and James Player of Mount Olive; four sisters, Ada Ruth Faison of Mount Olive, Leroice Pemberton, Chris Ann Leonard and Rose Marie Martin, all of Dudley; seven brothers, Leedell Seaberry of Philadelphia, Douglas Mitchell of Goldsboro, Johnny Rondell of Mount Olive, Franklin Martin of South Carolina, Robert Earl Martin of Indiana, David and Ricky Martin, both of Dudley; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the church.
