Town of Mount Olive still hashing out plans for full-time rec director
10 July 2008–By William Holloman, staff writer
Employment of a fulltime director of recreation for the Town of Mount Olive still hinges on finalizing a job description for the position.
“I have roughed out a job classification description already,” said town manager Charles Brown, “but I want some input from town commissioners and citizens.”
Brown said the job classification still needs fine tuning.
“Once that is done we will be in a position where we can advertise the job and begin the interview process,” he said.
He said he hopes to fill the position sometime this summer.
“By the end of this month I am sure we will be pretty much winding up the process,” he explained.
Brown said there has already been a lot of interest in the position.
“I think we have got a lot of people in the area who are well qualified,” he said.
He did say getting the position filled and someone on board is important because of plans for expanding a variety of recreational activities this fall.
The new director will work with current recreation personnel Tom Swinson and Jimmy Adams, who are part-time personnel.
Both Swinson and Adams have been praised for providing excellent recreational opportunities, but citizen demands and needs are rapidly growing.
