Duplin County Sheriff's report

19 June 2008 – On Wednesday, May 21, Deputy Richard Strickland responded to a report of burglary at the Beautancus Sportsman Club, 191 Luby Road. An unknown suspect cut the lock off the clubhouse gate sometime between May 19 and 21 and entered the clubhouse, but apparently did no damage beyond the destruction of the padlock, valued at $10. The case remains under investigation.

Later that day, a 23-year-old Mount Olive woman reported that a Chase debit card valued at $200 had been stolen from her and used fraudulently.

On Saturday, May 24, Deputy Jerry Griffin responded to a compliant about a dog being mistreated at 108 Sugartree Ln.

On Monday, May 26, Deputy Joseph Kennedy responded to a report of burglary, larceny and damage to property at 316 NE Center St. in Calypso. Sometime between 6 p.m. on May 24 and the time of the report, an unknown suspect broke into the Carolina Desk and Locker Co. and stole 2,000 feet of copper wire valued at $10,000, and damaged electrical boxes and panels in the process. The case remains under investigation.

On Tuesday, May 27, Deputy Richard Strickland responded to a report that a Chevrolet van was stolen from 1605 Red Hill Rd. sometime between May 21 and the time of the report. The van was valued at $350 and the case is still under investigation.
