Calypso native Tim Reaves receives doctorate in ministry
12 June 2008 – The Rev. Dr. Tim Reaves graduated Saturday, May 10, receiving his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury. Reaves, a Calypso native, is a United Methodist Minister in the North Carolina Annual Conference. 
He has been serving the Bladen Charge United Methodist churches for almost 11 years. The Bladen Charge is made up of three churches; Bethlehem UMC, Live Oak UMC, and Windsor UMC. All three are located in Bladen County near Elizabethtown. Since his pastorate began there, the three churches have grown from a combined worship attendance of 80 to a current combined attendance of 230 people on Sundays.
Reaves also serves as chairperson for the North Carolina Conference Commission on Evangelism and is a former Denman Evangelism Award winner. He holds a Masters of Divinity Degree from Duke University and a Bachelor Degree from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Reaves is the son of Tom and Meg Reaves of Calypso. He is the grandson of Thelma Reaves of Mt. Olive and the late Jack Reaves; and the late Ed and Sallie Merle Lewis. He is married to Tina Weaver Reaves, formerly of Mt. Olive and daughter of Dorothy Weaver of Mt. Olive and the late Rev. Allen Weaver. Tim and Tina have two daughters, Alena, 5, and Trinity, 2. The family resides in the community of White Oak, in northern Bladen County.

Ms. Gail Stroud Moore of Kenansville and Mr. Dennis Carlton Price of Deep Run are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Lauren, to Benjamin Lewis Grady Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Lewis Grady Sr. of Faison. Ashley is the granddaughter of Doris Stroud and the late Ashley Eugene Stroud of Albertson, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Luther Price of Deep Run. Lewis is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Tucker of Faison and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jim Grady of Beautancus. The couple plans to wed at Faison United Methodist Church on July 12, 2008 at 6 p.m.
